What is DPC?

Family medicine delivered the old fashioned way, with the same trusted doctor every visit, every call, every text, every email

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a simple, straightforward approach to healthcare. Instead of navigating insurance billing and copays, you pay one flat monthly fee that covers all of your primary care services, with unlimited visits included.

That means you can see your doctor for every routine checkup, preventive care visit, urgent visit, or ongoing chronic condition visit without worrying about the cost of each appointment. No surprise bills. No limits on how often you’re seen.

Because DPC doctors spend more time with fewer patients, they can manage more of your health needs directly, which means every patient has less reliance on costly specialists, urgent care centers, emergency rooms, or hospital stays.

  • No co-pays.
  • No charges for procedures.
  • No pre-set appointment lengths.
  • No suprise fees for discussing your health.

Your monthly fee covers all in-office services and includes direct communication with your physician by text, call, or email. While your insurance isn’t billed for primary care, we do work with your insurance to ensure lab tests, medications, imaging, and referrals are covered the same way they would be in any other practice.

DPC pairs well with high-deductible health plans, and for patients paying cash, we can help you save on medications, labs, and imaging.

Some health insurance plans cover all or part of the monthly DPC fee. Two options currently available in our area are Mending Health (formerly Taro Health, available through coverme.gov) and Health Access Solutions, which is not ACA-qualified but offers coverage beyond catastrophic care.

Primary Care clinics do a lot, but certainly not everything. Being a member of a DPC clinic is not equivalent to having insurance. Learn more about Western Foothills Membership services.
